Google and Facebook At It Again
Google Just Can’t Get Enough - They are at it again, folks. Google announced its plans to get back in the social media game with its Google+ platform. Despite failed attempts like Wave and Buzz, the company is using new terms like Circles, Sparks, Hangouts, and Huddles in hopes to lure the social media savvy. The platform is geared towards organic sharing with smaller groups of friends. Many advertisers are waiting to see what, if any, impact this will have on Facebook’s platform…Of course, at the moment, the project is open to invitation only users, so don’t expect to be able to play around with it any time soon.
Facebook Toys With Redesign
Facebook Preps for New Look - Remember when Facebook was called “TheFacebook”? Yeah, neither do we. In true Facebook fashion, the company is quietly toying with another design change – one likely to cause an uproar from Facebook fans if they decide to go with it (see comment thread of linked article). Facebook is testing a home page that would keep advertisements visible as you scroll. Advertisers will likely love the change, as its bound to increase click-through rates. However, Facebook admittedly says that a “small, grumpy backlash” from users is likely.
