#SMWChicago Gets Off to a Stellar Start at Rockit
Social Media Week kicked off this evening with a stellar party at Rockit Bar & Grill on Hubbard Street in Chicago. A perfect fall night with an eclectic mix of social media-ites was the ultimate way to kick-off an exciting lineup of events taking place all over the city throughout the week.
The event was complete with speciality drinks called “Tweetinis” and “Socialites” that truly complimented the list of attendees. Guests rolled in throughout the evening, Tweeting their arrivals. A live scroll of Tweets appeared on TVs across the bar so that users could see each other’s posts, using the #SMWChicago hashtag. TwitPics galore surfaced showing savory Mac N’ Cheese apps and Sweet Potato Fry baskets, and people started to recognize each other and strike up conversations based on Twitter photos and profiles.
Whether a CEO of a company, or a new owner of a small business, all were eager to talk about the latest and greatest in social media. From writing a blog to running a company, there was not a lack of discussion when it came to how social media was an integral part of everyone’s every day.
A digital world came together in the most real of experiences at a phenomenal launch party to celebrate Chicago’s first-ever participation in this global event. Stay tuned for more updates from the week, including live interviews on YouTube, blog posts from Zocalo Group, and Tweets from @SMWChicago. Check out the events to register and come to a seesion, or simply watch an event via livestream. Either way, there is more than enough room for one and all to participate.
